Salary: $39.44-44.60 Hourly – Salary Commensurate with Experience

Responsibilities
  • The Autism Spectrum Disorder Mental Health Therapist provides assessment and case management services to children, youth and their families to address mental health issues along with providing specialized treatment with those with ASD. Within their scope of practice, the incumbent provides supports and interventions utilizing evidence-informed and evidence-based therapeutic approaches and clinical practices.
  • Provide client-centered counselling and therapy to children and youth (up to age 18), using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches to support emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
  • Conduct assessments, intake interviews, and collaborate with families and support systems to develop personalized service plans and goals.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical knowledge and therapeutic skills in areas such as assessment, trauma-informed care, crisis response, and cognitive behavioural therapy, with the ability to support children and youth up to age 18.
  • Apply anti-oppression practices, provide crisis and suicide interventions, facilitate mental health education and support groups, and collaborate with community agencies to ensure access to services.
  • Maintain personal wellness and professional development through training, workshops, and cooperative teamwork, while adhering to confidentiality and safety policies.
Hours of Work
  • We are looking to fill two contracts at 14.5 hours (two days) weekly.
  • First Contract: This position runs from September 2025 until March 2026.
  • Second Contract: This position runs from September 2025 until March 2027

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in a regulated profession (e.g., Social Work, Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy) with formal training in psychotherapy and counselling for children and youth using diverse therapeutic modalities.
  • Minimum two years of direct counselling experience required; five years’ experience working with children and youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) is preferred.
  • Advanced training or equivalent experience in assessment and treatment of individuals with ASD.
  • Current unrestricted registration with a regulatory college authorized to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy (e.g., CRPO, OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO), in accordance with professional standards.
  • Knowledge of counselling theories, trauma-informed practices, and experience working within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCVI), and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is an asset.
  • French and/or Arabic language proficiency (written and verbal) is considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
