Job summary

University of British Columbia is seeking a Labourer 3 to maintain outdoor surfaces and fields for Athletics & Recreation at the Point Grey Campus. The role includes mowing, edging, planting, pruning, and seasonal weekend/evening work as required.

Under Head Groundskeeper supervision, you will support maintenance of Thunderbird Park and Stadium fields, operate landscape equipment, and ensure safe, high-quality playing conditions.

Qualifications

• Secondary school education or equivalent.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Experience working with gardening tools and equipment.
• Ability to lift/move 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow policies, procedures and instructions.
• Experience maintaining sport fields is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Mows lawn and field areas with walk and riding mowers.
• Removes leaves and debris from fields, walkways and landscape.
• Prepares soil and plants using common tools.
• Plants trees and shrubs in designated locations.
• Performs lawn installation including turf and seed distribution.
• Watering and fertilizing plants, trees, lawns, and gardens.
• Moves soil, mulch and materials to storage or different locations.
• Operates standard power equipment for landscape tasks.
• Assist with routine maintenance on small equipment and report faults.
• Coordinate material and equipment needs with Head Groundskeeper.
