The Peel District School Board (PDSB) is a racially, culturally and linguistically diverse board that serves approximately 148,000 students and 17,000+ employees. Job Summary

Reporting to the Superintendent of Curriculum and School Improvement, the successful applicant will be responsible for the coordination of all competitions for the Peel District School Board and the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board as the Athletic Coordinator for the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA). The successful candidate will collaborate as a member of a team to complete the responsibilities associated with this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule all competitions in accordance with the ROPSSAA Constitution and Sport Playing Regulations
  • Serve as primary point of contact with sport convenors, coaches and school administrators.
  • Collects data and information from schools to create intent-to-participate lists as preparation for schedule development.
  • Coordinates athletic events by booking facilities, scheduling officials and arranging for appropriate medical support and equipment for inter-school activities, particularly the competition finals in consultation with sport convenors.
  • Communicates to the system all updated ROPSSAA, and OFSAA playing regulations and OPASSE safety regulations, current standings and results and other items related to athletic events.
  • Manages the updating of information via the website on an ongoing basis to communicate key information and maintain current and upcoming competition schedules and deadlines.
  • Provides competition results and standings to the media as appropriate and follows board procedures for communicating with media.
  • Maintains the schedule of the ROPSSAA Executive and its subcommittees and attends all meetings.
  • Acts as a proxy for the ROPSSAA Executive with officials’ associations and assignors.
  • Assists in the preparation of motions for constitutional changes as required.
  • Prepares all pre-season information for coaches modules.
  • Attends pre-season and post-season coaches meetings as a resource and facilitator.
  • Prepares and disseminates minutes.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of appropriate playing regulations.
  • Facilitates entries for competition for OFSAA championships.
  • Ensures all athletes meet ROPSSAA and/or OFSAA eligibility requirements.
  • Annually summarizes individual school and sport participation rates in inter-school athletics.
  • Maintain accurate financial records for all activities.
  • Liaise with Athletic Coordinators around the Province and stays up to date with best practices.
  • Liaise with the various departments to coordinate and support concussion prevention and intervention resources in alignment with policy implementation.
  • Provide consultation on sports-related issues to departments and schools as required and where appropriate.
  • Support department priorities as required for athletics across the region.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Preference will be given to qualified members of the Administrative Staff Group (ASG).
