Job summary

Distinct | North America in Richmond Hill, Ontario seeks an Assurance Manager to own engagements, nurture client relationships and guide a growing assurance team. The role focuses on private companies, Not-for-profits and external reporting needs within a hybrid work setup.

With 5+ years in Canadian public accounting, you’ll lead planning, execution and review, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality financial statements and working papers while collaborating with Partners on complex accounting

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Canadian CPA firm/public accounting experience.
• Strong audit and review engagement experience.
• Experience independently managing engagements.
• Experience reviewing financial statements and working papers.
• Strong client relationship and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead audit and review engagements from planning through finalization.
• Develop engagement plans and oversee fieldwork.
• Review financial statements and working papers.
• Resolve technical accounting and assurance issues.
• Manage engagement budgets, deadlines and staffing.
• Act as primary client contact and present issues to owners/management.
• Review work of Seniors and junior accountants; mentor staff.
• Identify internal control deficiencies and provide recommendations.
• Work with Partners on complex accounting matters.
• Manage a portfolio of engagements throughout the year.
• Support staff scheduling and workflow planning.
• Contribute to maintaining and growing client relationships.

Assurance Manager | $110,000–$135,000 | Richmond Hill (Hybrid)

There’s a big difference between reviewing an audit file and actually owning the engagement.

This role is about the latter.

You’ll join an established CPA firm in Richmond Hill, taking responsibility for assurance engagements, client relationships and the development of the team underneath you.

The portfolio is varied, with work across privately held businesses, not-for-profits and organizations requiring external assurance and financial reporting support.
