Job summary

CNIB in Toronto, Ontario, is hiring an Associate, Philanthropy to support the Ontario Philanthropy team. The role focuses on grant writing, event planning and donor stewardship, working closely with the Director, Corporate & Foundation Partnerships.

The successful candidate will manage donor data, support moves management, develop proposals, and coordinate fundraising activities while collaborating with Finance, Marketing, and Programs. Experience with CRMs and Canva is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in fundraising, preferably major giving.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and oral communication; ability to develop proposals and stewardship materials.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $48,888.00 To $61,110.00 Annually

Location:Toronto, ON

I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities

The Associate, Philanthropy will work closely with the Director, Corporate & Foundation Partnerships to support the Ontario Philanthropy team day-to-day activities with a focus on grant writing, event planning and implementation, and donor stewardship.

II. Essential Functions

The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:

  • Ensure appropriate administration of donor information is maintained in the donor database.
  • Provide substantial donor-centric support to the Solicitors to support the annual revenue needs of the organization.
  • Support the moves management activities including pipeline and results monitoring.
  • Devise and continually improve high-quality external facing content for the benefit of CNIB donors including writing competitive funding applications and proposals.
  • Maintain high-quality stewardship practices for active donors including reporting and sustaining detailed records of activities.
  • Create templates for donor materials across the donor cycle to support fundraising and stewardship initiatives nationally.
  • Manage special projects/events as required.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all communications consistent with CNIB's brand.
  • Maintain centralized hubs of materials and information to support distribution and streamline processes.
  • Maintain working knowledge of significant developments and trends in philanthropy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from other departments (Finance, Marketing and Communications, Gift Management, Programs) for team projects.

III. Qualifications
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Superior interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a specific fundraising, preferably major giving position.
  • Strong competencies in Windows environment and with Microsoft Office software, including (but not limited to) Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Aptitude for planning and analysis with strong project management skills.
  • Adheres to applicable privacy laws as well as AFP, CAGP and CNIB standards of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills with a focus on efficiency.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, strategic, and flexible.
  • Ability to provide strategic solutions to complicated and difficult problems utilizing excellent analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated success in proposal and stewardship development.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and evaluate information, as well as make recommendations.
  • Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Experience and Education:

  • BA or equivalent in business, marketing, fundraising management.
  • Experience and working knowledge of Canva is considered an asset.
  • Experience with CRM systems, including Salesforce, is considered an asset.
  • Experience in a moves management program and prospect clearance process.
  • Experience coordinating events and/or a fundraising committee is considered an asset.
