Job summary

Urban Legal Recruitment Inc. is representing a premier Canadian business law firm seeking a junior to mid-level Labour & Employment Associate to join its Calgary team.

The role offers exposure to a broad range of employment matters and collaboration with leading professionals. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years post-call experience in labour and employment law, advises employers on transactions, and is comfortable with drafting contracts and handling investigations.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years post-call experience in labour and employment law.
• Experience advising and representing employers on employment matters including corporate transactions.
• Experience with labour arbitrations and/or administrative tribunals is an asset.
• Strong drafting and negotiation of employment contracts; knowledge of executive compensation, workers' compensation, pay equity, and employment equity.
• Familiarity with OH&S prosecutions, human rights, employment standards, privacy, terminations, layoffs, and investigations.

Our client is currently seeking a highly skilled and confident junior to mid-level Labour & Employment Associate to join their esteemed Calgary team. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to a vibrant practice while collaborating with some of the industry's leading professionals.

Qualifications and Attributes:

• 2-5 (2025 - 2021) years of post-call experience in labour and employment law from a reputable national, regional, or boutique firm.
• Experience advising and representing employers on various employment and labour law matters, including corporate transactions and reorganizations.
• Experience with labour arbitrations and/or administrative tribunals is an asset.
• Proficient in drafting and negotiating employment contracts, with knowledge of executive compensation, workers' compensation, pay equity, and employment equity.
• Familiarity with occupational health and safety prosecutions, human rights issues, employment standards, privacy matters, terminations, layoffs, and workplace investigations.
• Strong communication and drafting skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Qualified to practice law in Canada.
