What is the opportunity?

An exciting opportunity to join the Enterprise Controller (Wholesale Finance) team. The Associate Director, Wholesale Financial Control, will serve as the subject matter expert and key finance contact for RBC Capital Markets' Corporate Banking in Canada and the US. The role focuses on delivering accurate financial information, supporting reporting, disclosure, control frameworks, process improvements, and leading ad-hoc projects in collaboration with stakeholders across the enterprise.

What will you do?

  1. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial and regulatory reporting related to the Capital Markets Corporate Lending business in Canada and the US by reviewing monthly GL data, financial results, and variances, including monitoring allocations and intergroup activities.
  2. Ensure new products and transactions are accurately reflected in RBC's financial reporting systems, applying appropriate accounting methodologies, especially IFRS, and preparing relevant analyses for disclosures and reports.
  3. Review the monthly Global Attestation program to verify financial controls supporting external results are in place, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  4. Act as a subject matter expert on lending product accounting issues, maintaining technical knowledge and updating relevant teams on new accounting developments.
  5. Contribute to and represent the Finance function in IT system projects and initiatives.
  6. Ensure compliance and completeness of SOX and RBC EUDA documentation, including new controls and processes.
  7. Participate in ad-hoc projects as directed by the Director of Corporate Banking Financial Control.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • CPA designation or equivalent, with strong analytical and financial reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of financial and regulatory standards, especially IFRS 9.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Leadership, people management, and team-building abilities.
  • Interpersonal skills for frequent interaction with senior management, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of RBC financial systems.
  • Experience managing Corporate Lending Products.
