Job summary

SickKids Foundation is seeking an Associate Director, Strategy & Planning to shape the next Strategic Plan. You will translate direction into priorities, engage senior leaders, and partner across Finance, Data/BI, and Communications to link strategy with annual planning and reporting.

You will lead strategy sessions, synthesize insights, and drive execution with cross-functional teams, ensuring measurable outcomes and alignment with the Foundation’s mission.

Qualifications

  • Relevant university degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional facilitation and session-design skills, with experience guiding senior groups.
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills for turning data into insights.
  • Superior verbal and written communication, with ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Experience in management consulting, internal strategy, healthcare, philanthropy or not-for-profit is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage the Foundation’s strategic planning process with stakeholders, governance and approvals.
  • Facilitate strategy sessions with senior leaders and the Board to drive decisions and actions.
  • Synthesize internal/external inputs into clear strategic insights and recommendations.

Position Status: Temporary Full-Time, 24-month Contract Available: Immediately

Description of the Position

The Associate Director, Strategy & Planning will play a key role in the development and implementation of SickKids Foundation’s next Strategic Plan. Reporting to the Director, Innovation & Process Improvement, the Associate Director will work closely with senior leaders, the Board and teams across the Foundation to translate strategic direction into clear priorities, actionable plans, measures and reporting.

This two-year role will lead key aspects of strategic planning, facilitation and implementation, while partnering with Finance, Data/BI, Communications and other teams to connect enterprise strategy with annual planning, performance measurement and organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Work closely with the Director to design and manage the Foundation’s strategic planning process, including stakeholder engagement, research, governance, decision points and approvals
  • Design and independently facilitate strategy sessions with senior leaders, the Board and cross-functional teams, navigating complex discussions and competing perspectives to support clear decisions and action
  • Synthesize internal and external information, stakeholder input and analysis into clear, integrated strategic insights and recommendations
  • Translate the Strategic Plan into an actionable roadmap connecting enterprise objectives, initiatives, accountabilities, milestones, dependencies and measures
  • Manage ongoing implementation and review of the Strategic Plan, including development of KPIs, dashboards and progress reporting in partnership with Data/BI and business leaders; identification of risks and dependencies; and executive and Board reporting
  • Work with Finance and business leaders to connect enterprise strategy with annual business planning, priorities and resource discussions
  • Build understanding and engagement with the Strategic Plan across the Foundation, helping leaders and teams understand how their work contributes to enterprise strategy and use the Plan to guide priorities and decisions; coach leaders on strategic thinking, prioritization, measurement and planning
  • Provide strategic analysis, facilitation and project leadership in support of other organizational priorities as required

Qualifications

  • Relevant university degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in enterprise strategy, strategic planning, strategy implementation, internal consulting or organizational transformation
  • Exceptional facilitation and session-design skills, with demonstrated experience independently facilitating senior executive, Board or other senior stakeholder groups through complex discussions, competing perspectives and decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into execution through roadmaps, annual plans, governance, performance measures and reporting
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to turn complex qualitative and quantitative information into clear recommendations
  • Strong project and program management skills, with experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make strategy clear and relevant to diverse audiences
  • Strong relationship-building, influencing, judgement and organizational awareness
  • Experience in management consulting, internal strategy, healthcare, philanthropy, not-for-profit or another complex organization is considered an asset

Total Compensation Package

Expected Hiring Salary Range:$99,297 - $124,121; with the ability to progress to a maximum of $142,739 with demonstrated experience and proficiency. To ensure fair and equitable pay at SickKids Foundation, placement on the salary range will be based on your years of experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the Associate Director, Strategy and Planning.
