WHO WE ARE

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was established in 1999 as an independent international agency to lead a collaborative worldwide movement for doping-free sport. WADA develops, harmonizes, and coordinates anti-doping rules and policies across all sports and countries. Our activities include scientific research, education, investigations, capacity development, and compliance monitoring.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We seek a highly organized, medically knowledgeable professional to oversee the Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) process, including managing the TUE Expert Group. You will provide medical expertise across the agency and oversee the review and revision of the International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (ISTUE).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the TUE process and procedures, including monitoring and reviews.
  • Manage activities of the WADA TUE Expert Group and an extended group of international medical specialists.
  • Review and analyze data supporting the TUE program.
  • Manage the Medical Team to optimize the TUE review process.
  • Create and maintain WADA TUE Physician Guidelines for common medical conditions requiring TUEs.
  • Assist in briefing experts and legal professionals; provide testimony if required.
  • Liaise with medical experts or advisors from governments or agencies involved in medical and anti-doping issues.
  • Provide medical information to Communications/Public as per media policy.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including sports medical commissions (IFs and IOC).
  • Support the Prohibited List Expert Group and Health, Medical and Research Committee.
  • Deliver educational sessions to physicians via publications, conferences, and presentations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant medical and anti-doping literature.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • 8-10 years as a Medical Practitioner (MD or equivalent).
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Experience in anti-doping.
  • Research and/or academic teaching background.
  • Deep understanding of international sport.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Cultural Intelligence (CQ) and adaptability.
  • Excellent communication skills in English or French, with proficiency in the other; additional languages are a plus.
  • Teamwork, integrity, openness, and a passion for sport.
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends and travel approximately 10%.
