Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience building relationships with First Nations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice to Ministers on policy issues and program decisions.
  • Develop options for action, including potential risks and consequences.
  • Manage significant and complex issues while addressing stakeholder expectations.
  • Develop and sustain strong, strategic relationships with First Nations through consultation and decision-making processes.
  • Identify matters requiring policy development to ensure efficient, high-quality environmental assessments.
  • Lead organizational transformation through legislative, program, and process improvements.
  • Direct staff and ensure activities align with government’s corporate strategic agenda.
  • Ensure the Office’s structure, systems, and processes enable staff to perform effectively.
  • Maximize and effectively manage human, fiscal, information, and program resources.
  • Model corporate values and foster leadership skills throughout the organization.
  • Provide leadership to create a culture of engagement, accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and resilience.

  • The candidate must support Ministers by providing strategic advice on policy issues and program decisions.

Job Requirements
  • The candidate must possess a related post-secondary degree combined with significant demonstrated leadership experience at a senior management or executive level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The candidate must have recent experience at a senior management or executive level within a complex environment, ideally within a regulatory or statutory context.
  • The candidate must have experience leading change in a complex organization, including modernization of programs, systems, and processes to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • The candidate must have experience building and sustaining strong, strategic relationships and partnerships with First Nations, including working respectfully and effectively with First Nations leaders in complex, high-profile, and often challenging consultation, engagement, and decision-making processes.
  • The candidate must have experience employing strategic planning, policy formulation, resource allocation, and effective stakeholder and First Nations engagement in leadership roles.
  • The candidate must have experience building consensus, resolving disputes, and critically assessing business practices and strategies within statutory requirements that provide flexibility and discretion.
