Job summary

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) seeks an experienced Associate Dean to lead the Faculty of Trades and Technology. You will provide strategic, administrative, and educational leadership across departments, guiding curriculum, teaching, and student experience with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support direct reports, guiding goals and fostering a collaborative culture.
• Administer collective agreements, represent management in grievances, and consult HR.
• Engage departments in long-term planning to advance Faculty and University objectives.
• Provide leadership for academic programs and curriculum, including development and reviews.
• Monitor workload, course offerings, enrolment patterns, and projections for planning.
• Lead Faculty recruitment, chair search committees, and support orientation and evaluation.
• Respond to student complaints, appeals, integrity matters, and policy-aligned issues.
• Review processes for waivers, substitutions, transfer credit, and prior learning assessment.
• Develop and monitor the Faculty budget; approve expenditures as a Dean designate.
• Coordinate with Health and Safety Committee on communications and matters.
• Represent the Faculty on committees, councils, and external bodies.
• Model high standards of service, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Promote a safe, equitable, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
