Nipissing University invites applications from qualified academic nurse leaders for the position of Associate Dean in the School of Nursing. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies and collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and University leadership to ensure the strategic advancement of nursing education and scholarship. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the future direction of the School of Nursing programs, including interdisciplinary offerings across the University. The Associate Dean, School of Nursing, provides academic leadership and operational oversight in support of the Dean. They lead curriculum development, ensure program quality, and uphold academic standards across all nursing programs. The role includes mentoring faculty, fostering research and teaching innovation, and addressing complex student issues. The Associate Dean contributes to strategic planning, promotes equity and reconciliation in academic practices, and builds partnerships within the university and healthcare sector. They represent the School on internal and external committees and help advance the School’s mission through collaborative and community-engaged leadership. The Associate Dean will have a demonstrated commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and to fostering an inclusive and equitable academic environment. Experience engaging with Indigenous communities and promoting anti-racist and decolonizing practices will be considered a strong asset.
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Nursing or a closely related field, with at least one graduate degree in Nursing. A minimum of three years of progressive academic leadership in a postsecondary setting is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement, strong interpersonal and team-building skills, and the ability to lead in a collegial, student-centred environment. Eligibility for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required.
