Job summary

Shinhan Bank Canada (SHBC) is seeking an Associate, Business Strategy to support the department in driving growth, tracking KPIs across depository and loan functions, and aligning initiatives with the bank's strategic priorities. You will work with BRM and branch operations to improve performance and customer outcomes.

The role involves budgeting support, market and customer research, and participation in corporate-wide events.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of work experience, preferably in banking or financial services.
  • Branch work experience is preferred.
  • Effective and efficient communication skills in writing and verbal.
  • Analytical thinking is essential for data-driven decisions.
  • Able to prioritize tasks independently while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and reporting on detailed financial and operating metrics across depository and loan functions.
  • Support the bank's annual budget processes: application, execution, allocation and reporting.
  • Conduct research analyzing customers, products, and market for retail planning.
  • Provide active compliance support for Policies and Procedures alignment with rules (Bank Act, CPA, FCAC).
  • Communicate with third party vendors on retail support (CPA, BMO, CIBC).
  • Monitor, analyze, and plan performance of customer-facing platforms (Branch, internet banking, mobile app).
  • Participate in project management and assist with ad-hoc tasks as needed.

Business Strategy drives the Bank's high-level plans for achieving its vision, prioritizing objectives, competing successfully, optimizing financial performance, and attaining sustainable growth with its business model. The department is also responsible for leading and executing the Bank's overall sales and business strategy, with direct oversight of the Bank's sales organization, including Business Relationship Management (BRM) and branch banking operations.

The Associate, Business Strategy supports the department in its efforts to effectively drive business growth, strengthen sales performance, and oversee sales KPI management and performance monitoring to ensure alignment with the Bank's strategic objectives and business priorities.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Provide support and reporting on detailed financial and operating metrics including KPI, multi-channel campaign and promotions, etc across the depository and loan functions
  • Provide support and reporting on bank's annual budget: application, execution, allocation and reporting
  • Conduct research with the aim of analyzing customer, products, and the market for retail planning
  • Provide active compliance support in maintaining the department’s Policies and Procedures for alignment with the changing applicable rules (Bank Act, CPA, FCAC, etc.)
  • Communication with third party vendors on retail support (CPA, BMO, CIBC, etc.)
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and planning for the performance of customer-facing platforms such as Branch, internet banking and mobile app
  • Contribute in the department’s various project management involvement that impacts customer experience
  • Plan and facilitate Customer Satisfaction activities and events
  • Bank website’s central email box management
  • Update and revise products and services brochures
  • Actively participate in executing corporate-wide events and initiatives
  • Assist Manager/Senior Advisor & Analyst duties with ad-hoc tasks as needed
Job Requirements

Work Experience Requirements: 1 to 2 years of experience

  • Branch work experience is preferred
  • Effective and efficient communication skills in writing and verbal, analytical thinking are essential
  • Able to quickly comprehend instructions, independently prioritize tasks/workloads, take initiative to complete given assignments/projects accurately while deadlines are met
  • Ability to work well as a team player and independently; proactive and flexible; adaptable to change
  • Proficient in MS Office Suites and a quick learner for business-related systems and programs
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
