More Than a Roof Housing Society (MTR) is seeking an Associate Building Manager for a 6-month, full-time contract. The role will oversee multiple sites—Vancouver and White Rock—with weekly travel to White Rock, and will support tenants both practically and personally while upholding the organization’s mission and values.

The position focuses on tenant resource research, life-skills assistance, community development, and administration, including tenancy records and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Research community resources for tenants' personal and/or professional growth
• Assist tenants with life skills such as budgeting and parenting where appropriate
• Encourage tenant interaction and participation through community events and volunteer opportunities
• Facilitate and support community development
• Provide pastoral listening and prayer support for tenants
• Ensure compliance with house rules and tenancy agreements; manage conflicts
• Be on call during the week to assist tenants as required
• Maintain petty cash, records, invoices and payments
• Keep office supplies stocked and manage expenses within guidelines
• Maintain tenant records and coordinate tenancy forms and applications
• Manage unit change-overs and selection of new tenants from waiting lists
• Correspond with tenants regarding tenancy matters (with relevant departments)
• Schedule and conduct regular tenant meetings and coordinate booking of common rooms
• Attend Family Site meetings and liaise with weekend/emergency relief management
• Oversee site facilities and maintenance requests; schedule vendors and trades as needed

We are currently seeking a Associate Building Manager to join our team in a full-time capacity for a 6-month contract. Reporting to the Regional Site Coordinator, the Associate Building Manager will meet the administrative needs at the specific MTR site/s and to serve our tenant population both practically and personally to provide inclusion, community and a sense of belonging while upholding the mission, vision and values of More Than A Roof.

This role will oversee multiple sites: One in Vancouver and three smaller sites in White Rock. The role will primarily be based out of Vancouver with one day per week travel to our White Rock sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research community resources that will aid tenants in personal &/or professional growth
• Assist tenants with life skills like parenting, budgeting, etc. where appropriate
• Encourage tenant interaction, initiative and participation through community events, volunteer opportunities and the like
• Facilitate and support community development
• Listen to and pray for specific concerns of tenants
• Encourage compliance with 'house rules' and tenancy agreement terms, and deal with conflict resolution as necessary
• Be 'on call' during the week to help tenants as required

Administration

• Maintain petty cash, records & receipts, invoices for payment
• Maintain office supply levels
• Control the manageable expense lines and stay within spending guidelines
• Maintain tenant records with applications, tenancy agreements, move-in/out forms (coordinate with Maintenance), subsidy forms, verification of income and correspondence
• Unit change-over: outgoing paperwork for tenant leaving; review and selection of new tenants from waiting list and incoming paperwork for new tenants
• Tenant correspondence relating to tenancy (working alongside OLT)
• Schedule and conduct regular tenant meetings (Quarterly)
• Coordinate bookings of common room
• Attend regular Family Site meetings
• Liaise with weekend/emergency relief management

Site Facilities & maintenance

• Site Facilities & maintenance: Oversee sites' facilites, maintenance requests, attend to repair requests, maintain premises and ensure upkeep of site facilites. Schedule vendors and trades persons for tasks which need significant trades skills.

Working Conditions

MTR employees work closely with members in the vulnerable sector, both within our client base and with the general public. There may be exposure to abuse (verbal or physical), encounters with individuals in unsanitary conditions, and interactions with individuals experiencing emotional issues or vicarious trauma.

More Than a Roof is a faith-based ministry, guided and operated by those who are mature in the Christian faith. This role will involve a component of Christian ministry and outreach. A statement of faith is requested from candidates as part of the application process.

Physical Requirements

Work involves standing and moving around up to 85% of the time including climbing stairs, bending, getting up & down off the floor and repetitive movements like organising events, mopping & window washing. Work also involves looking at a computer screen and using a keyboard for up to 15% of the time. Must be able to lift 50lbs occasionally.

A Class 5 Driver's License and access to own car is required as travel is necessary.
