Cogir Senior Living is seeking an Assisted Living Supervisor to oversee the nursing program for residents and ensure high-quality care. You will collaborate with multiple departments to deliver coordinated services in a retirement residence.

The role requires current nursing registration (RPN/RN/LPN), at least three years of clinical experience, and strong knowledge of provincial regulations. Expect responsibilities in staff supervision, care planning, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience, preferably in a retirement residence.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of regulations, acts, program standards, and provincial legislation.
  • Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check (or be willing to obtain one) within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, coordinates and supervises the assisted living nursing program for residents within the residence.
  • Promotes interdisciplinary approach within the residence among Nursing, Food Services, Activation, Environmental Services and Administrative Departments.
  • Implements and monitors drug administration and safekeeping; supervises the medication administration program.
  • Maintains health care records to ensure regulatory compliance and quality care.
  • Participates in Care Conferences; meets with residents' families to resolve problems or concerns.
  • Collaborates with the House Physician and Executive Director to ensure medical attention and records comply with regulations.
  • Hires, orients, schedules, supervises and evaluates nursing personnel; manages disciplinary processes as needed.
  • Monitors compliance with residence policies and safety rules; ensures safety practices.
  • Assists with budget preparation and implementation for the Nursing Department.
  • Coordinates Infection Control Program for the Nursing Department.
  • Assumes administrative duties in the Executive Director's absence.

Mission:

Reporting to the Manager of Health and Wellness, the Assisted Living Supervisor assists with the overall management of the nursing program for the residents.

Salary:

$64,000 - $66,000/annually

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists the Manager of Health and Wellness with the following:
  • Plans, directs, co-ordinates and supervises the assisted living nursing program for residents within the residence.
  • Co-ordinates and promotes the interdisciplinary approach within the residence through the Nursing, Food Services, Activation, Environmental Service and Administrative Departments.
  • Implements and monitors controls and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics. Supervises the drug administration program including the administration of medication by all staff.
  • Directs and monitors the maintenance of health care records to ensure promote compliance with regulations and quality care for the resident.
  • Participates in Care Conferences as required, meets with residents' family to resolve problems/ concerns/complaints.
  • Assists the Executive Director by collaborating with the House Physician to ensure that medical attention and records are in compliance with regulations.
  • Hires, orients, schedules, supervise and evaluate the performance of nursing personnel. This includes use of the disciplinary process in conjunction with Executive Director.
  • Monitors and reviews resident care staff compliance with all residence policies and procedures, including safety rules and safe working practices.
  • Complies with all relevant Provincial and Federal Acts and Regulations, i.e. Health Disciplines Act, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, WSIB, College of Nurses Standards, Regulated Health Profession Act., etc.
  • Assists the Executive Director with budget preparation and implementation for the Nursing Department.
  • Investigates complaints.
  • Co-ordinates and monitors the Infection Control Program for the Nursing Department.
  • Assumes administrative duties as required in the Executive Director's absence.
Required Education, Credentials and Experience:
  • Currently registered as a Registered Practical Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse from the applicable provincial professional regulatory body with competency to perform skills withing their scope of practice;
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant clinical experience, preferably in a retirement residence;
  • Experience with developing service plans for the best quality of care to our residents;
  • Up to date of knowledge of regulations, acts, program standards, and other pertinent provincial legislation;
  • Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) within the last six months or be willing to obtain one.
