Summary

Assists the Store Manager in managing the store's daily operations, including increasing sales, staffing, merchandising, controlling expenses, ensuring a safe environment, and delivering a superior shopping experience. Operates within company policies, government laws, and collective agreements.

Specific Responsibilities

• Help achieve store goals related to sales, profit, margin, shrink, and labor targets.
• Implement merchandising programs to maximize operational efficiency and profitability.
• Work with Department Managers on productivity, standards, and health and safety compliance.
• Lead hiring, training, and development of staff to ensure a customer-focused environment.
• Utilize new technology initiatives for staff proficiency.
• Monitor local market activity and recommend strategies to overcome competitive challenges.
• Participate in community involvement initiatives.
• Maintain relationships with vendors and union representatives.
• Ensure store health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• College or University education.
• 3 to 5 years of progressive retail management experience (grocery preferred).
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office and good business acumen.
• Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and time management skills.
