Assistant Store Managers are responsible for all operations within the ‘back-end’ of the business including the Lumber Yard and LBM (lumber and building materials) departments, including maintaining safety standards, delivering financial results, merchandising, providing a first-class customer service experience, and developing their people.

Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrate sensitivity to customer needs and willingness to build sincere relationships.
  2. Engage and motivate team members with energy/optimism, through company vision and effectively promote leadership at all levels.
  3. Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and continuously innovate to achieve great results and implement process improvements.
  4. Communicate with honesty and integrity, and create the space for others to do the same.
  5. Lead with courage, knowing the possibility of greatness is bigger than the fear of failure.
  6. Foster connection by putting people first and building trusting relationships.

Qualifications

  1. Retail management experience is considered an asset.
  2. 2-3 years in a leadership/supervisory role.
  3. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  4. Exceptional customer service skills.
  5. Ability to leverage technology for project management, analysis, and problem-solving (including Microsoft Office Suite).
  6. Openness to continuous improvement and responsibility for independent learning.
  7. Flexible schedule based on retail needs.
  8. Shrink and inventory control experience.
  9. 21+ years of age due to forklift training requirements (training provided in-house); previous forklift experience is an asset.
