Summary

Assists the Store Manager in managing daily store operations, including growing sales, staffing, merchandising, expense control, ensuring a safe environment for employees and customers, and delivering a superior shopping experience. Operates within company policies, government legislation, and collective agreements.

Responsibilities
  1. Achieve or exceed store goals related to sales, profit, margins, shrink, and labor targets.
  2. Implement merchandising programs and operational procedures to maximize efficiency and profitability.
  3. Establish productivity goals with Department Managers and ensure merchandise displays adhere to planograms.
  4. Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.
  5. Hire, train, and develop a customer-focused staff to promote a friendly shopping environment.
  6. Utilize new technology initiatives to ensure staff proficiency.
  7. Monitor local market activity and recommend strategies to overcome competitive challenges.
  8. Participate in community involvement initiatives to enhance the store's community image.
  9. Build and maintain relationships with vendors and union representatives.
Qualifications
  • College or University education.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive management experience in retail, preferably grocery.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong business acumen, communication, organizational, leadership, and time management skills.
