Job Title : Assistant Safety Manager

Position Summary :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Safety Manager to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of our safety programs across all terminals and fleets. This role will work closely with the Safety Manager and operations teams to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and promote a safety-first culture. This position will also support HR-related administration.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with compliance related to Canada Border Services Agency and U.S. Customs & Border Protection.
  • Support the development and improvement of health, safety, and compliance programs aligned with regulations (CVOR, DOT, FMCSA, WSIB).
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of terminals, vehicles, and work practices.
  • Support driver onboarding and safety orientation, including training and documentation.
  • Monitor driver performance using ELDs and telematics systems.
  • Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accident files and assist with file management.
  • Track safety data and trends; recommend proactive strategies.
  • Coordinate with operations to resolve safety-related concerns.
  • Support internal / external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Promote a safety-focused culture through training and communication.
  • Assist with HR matters and application of company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a safety or compliance role within the transportation / logistics industry (automotive sector experience is a plus).
  • Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. transportation safety regulations.
  • Experience with ELDs, driver qualification files, and safety management systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Valid G-class driver’s license required (AZ / DZ license is a plus).
