The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to deliver and manage large/complex projects across a portfolio for key clients in Canada and the US. The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while meeting client needs. You will also identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to Ricardo’s processes and governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of large-value projects, implementing project management principles such as change control, risk, financial, and documentation management.
  • Plan and oversee project implementation within agreed requirements, budget, and timelines, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Manage project teams and suppliers, ensuring staff involvement and safe working conditions.
  • Ensure delivery of contracted outputs to quality standards, evaluate performance, and identify lessons for future improvement.
  • Understand customer goals and how Ricardo can contribute to achieving them, both within and beyond current projects.
  • Manage projects in accordance with Ricardo's processes and governance.
  • Promote and develop project management best practices within Ricardo using effective tools and techniques.

Key Competencies and Experience

  • Experience in a client services or business environment.
  • Results-oriented with flexibility to meet varying demands.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with excellent communication and diplomacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Ricardo Rail’s project management software.
  • Adaptability under pressure to meet project deadlines.

  • Implementation of project management principles like resource planning.
  • Project cost analysis.
  • Supporting project growth, recruiting staff, and managing resources and external suppliers.
  • Monitoring project progress and negotiating changes.
  • Establishing strong customer relationships and ensuring high service levels.
