Job Overview
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-drivenprofessional to join our team in the role of Assistant Project Leader.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Projects, this position is responsible to support the planning, execution, and documentation of hydroelectric infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will assist project teams with administrative coordination, document control, and communication tasks in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist Supervisor and staff with coordinating and controlling defined stages of project management in accordance with Project Management governance for assigned projects or project packages in various project phases, as circumstances require.
- Assist with implementing approved Project Management processes for phase-gating, integration, scope, schedule, cost, change control, estimating, communications and reporting, and risk.
- Supporting large scale projects involving hydraulic turbines, generators, switchgear and balance of plant equipment.
- Supporting project delivery by assisting senior staff with planning, coordination, and execution across scope, cost, schedule, and risk.
- Ensuring governance compliance by applying phase-gate processes and contributing to business cases, reporting, and change management.
- Engaging stakeholders through effective communication, site visits, and documentation to help meet project objectives and resolve issues.
Qualifications
- 4-year university degree or the equivalent level of education
- Minimum 2 years of experience in project administration or coordination, preferably in infrastructure or energy projects
- Familiarity with hydroelectric project components (e.g., dams, turbines, powerhouses) is an asset
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and project management tools such as MS Project, SharePoint, or equivalent platforms
- Knowledge of document control systems and version management best practices
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment
- Experience working in a construction or engineering setting is considered an advantage

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions.
