Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering

Description:
The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in Operations Research. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2026.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. PhD in engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related area by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter, with demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  2. Teaching experience in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation, curriculum development, and online material development.
  3. Evidence of excellence in teaching, such as awards, conference presentations, teaching dossiers, and strong references.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Probability and Statistics, Quality Control, Reliability, Asset Management, Deterministic and Stochastic Operations Research, and related areas.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and pedagogical activities.

The successful candidate should be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, teaching dossier (including statement, syllabi, course materials, evaluations), and three references, with at least one addressing teaching. The application deadline is June 12, 2025.
