Ultipro in Edmonton is seeking an Assistant Production Operator to support manufacturing operations through material handling, parts preparation, grinding, deburring, and general production assistance.

Working alongside production operators and shop staff, you will help ensure materials and components are prepared, processed, and moved efficiently while maintaining quality standards and a safe, organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing or material handling is an asset.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Willingness to follow procedures and work orders.
  • Capable of standing for long periods and performing repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

  • Move, sort, and stage raw materials, parts, and finished components.
  • Load and unload materials and assist with positioning components.
  • Assist with equipment setup, material preparation, and daily production activities.
  • Perform grinding, deburring, sanding, and finishing to remove sharp edges, burrs, weld spatter, and surface imperfections.
  • Clean and prepare parts and surfaces for welding, assembly, painting, or further processing.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, and other shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assist with measuring, fitting, fastening, and basic assembly of components as directed.
  • Follow work orders, production instructions, and established procedures to complete assigned tasks.
  • Inspect parts and materials for visible defects, damage, or inconsistencies and report concerns.
  • Identify and organize components to maintain workflow and prevent material damage or loss.
  • Operate material handling equipment only when trained and authorized.
  • Check tools and equipment before use and report maintenance needs or unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, including removing scrap and disposing of waste in designated areas.
  • Communicate material shortages, production delays, and quality or safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Follow company policies, safe work procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Previous manufacturing, shop, or material handling experience is an asset.
  • Experience with grinding, deburring, and hand or power tools is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing shop with exposure to noise, dust, sparks, vibration, and moving equipment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive movements are required.
  • Duties include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and positioning materials, using lifting equipment or team assistance where required.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn as required for the task and work area.
  • Work may involve varying temperatures and occasional outdoor material handling.
  • Overtime may be required to meet production demands.
