Job description

As a key member of our Live Production team, you will support the Live Entertainment department’s mandate to provide superior client service and event execution. You will assist the department in the successful technical coordination and safe supervision of live events, helping ensure all events are presented in an advantageous manner. Your enthusiasm, developing leadership, and commitment to department improvement will set you apart.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Production Manager with live event technical set-up support as assigned.
  2. Support clients, promoters, and show/event providers with technical, union, and safety compliance issues at venues like Scotiabank Arena, Coca-Cola Coliseum, and BMO Field, prioritizing safety, building integrity, ticket availability, crew conduct, regulatory compliance, and other operational priorities.
  3. Ensure advantageous event execution through thoroughness, timely communication, supervision, and administration.
  4. Review event site technical plans using AutoCAD.
  5. Assist with local IATSE union agreements and crew supervision.
  6. Act as the venue event-crew safety liaison for each event.
  7. Determine event production needs, source resources, assign staff, and resolve schedules.
  8. Review and communicate event technical cost estimates and expense summaries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policies.
  9. Manage orders for work and rental supplies, ensuring completeness and approval.
  10. Develop understanding of union collective bargaining agreements.
  11. Provide assistance to other areas as needed.
Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in a stage production-related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of live event stage production experience.
  • AutoCAD drafting skills.
  • Experience with unionized environments, preferably IATSE.
  • Knowledge of theatrical/arena rigging and reading rigging plots.
  • Familiarity with Ontario safety and employment laws.
  • Availability for extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, handle high-pressure projects, and develop professional relationships.
  • Strong focus on client service and safety awareness.
