Job summary

Whistler Blackcomb is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Squamish Outlet Store in Whistler, BC. This role leads daily retail operations, schedules, payroll, and store performance while training staff in POS systems, product knowledge and guest service.

The position requires strong leadership, excellent customer service, and the ability to manage under pressure. Work is year-round, with competitive wages and extensive employee perks and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years previous retail sales experience with at least 1 year leading others.
• Strong leadership behaviors: workload management, decision making, talent assessment, training, and conflict management.
• Demonstrated understanding of effective retail product presentation.
• Excellent communication and ability to work both in a team and independently.
• Must be fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations, monitoring performance and budget including scheduling and payroll; act as manager-on-duty in the absence of a Store Manager.
• Maintain daily store records for performance, sales metrics, inventory control and equipment rentals (when applicable).
• Hire and train employees in POS system operation, product knowledge, guest service, sales techniques and loss prevention policies and procedures.
• Monitor team performance and behavior to provide feedback and direction, with recognition or corrective action as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and provide excellent customer service through timely responses to questions, suggestions, complaints, and recognition.
• Participate with leadership forums providing feedback and input on store performance, training, and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned, including specialty areas like merchandising and rentals.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years previous retail sales experience with at least 1 year attentively utilizing the following leadership behaviors;

• Demonstrated understanding of effective retail product presentation.
• Ability to delegate and communicate tasks.
• Extreme attention to detail, conscientious worker.
• Working knowledge of computers with experience in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Illustrator.
• Excellent guest service skills, in person, on the phone and in writing.
• Comfortable with team-based work structure yet also having the ability to work independently.
• Ability to give clear directions and set expectations for the staff
• Demonstrated flexibility on the job; ability to adapt quickly and react positively to business needs and changes in strategies.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends
• Must be able to communicate fluently in English
