Purpose:


The Assistant Manager is responsible for helping to drive an efficient and effective Regulatory Reporting & Control function within Global Wholesale Operations. The Assistant Manager is responsible for actioning daily controls as well as supporting projects.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

• Ensuring Scotiabank’s trade and transaction reporting activities are in compliance with governing regulations and business requirements in all areas Scotiabank operates(MIFID 2, CIRO, CFTC, SEC, CTR, ESMA, FCA, MAS, HKMA, ASIC, CAT, SFTR, SMMD, Electronic Bluesheets)
• Identifying and escalating reporting breaks through daily reconciliation controls and remediating potential reporting issues to mitigate compliance/regulatory risks.
• Preparing management reports and dashboards for all levels of management using various tools, such as Power-BI, dashboards, etc.
• Partnering with internal (e.g. Technology, Internal Controls, and Compliance) and external (e.g. Trade Repositories) stakeholders on compliance remediation matters and ensuring effective control processes are implemented and followed.
• Building and maintaining Subject Matter Expertise by understanding regulatory reporting requirements and knowledge of regulatory reporting/reporting logic across all jurisdictions
• Analyzing the impact of regulatory changes and supporting the necessary changes to internal reporting, reconciliation, and other control processes
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams within GWO to prioritize effort to ensure that regulatory reporting obligations are met in all jurisdictions
• Actively participating and contributing to change management projects/initiatives to ensure that regulatory reporting requirements are working with adequate controls and appropriate metrics are incorporated into the KPI/KRI risk management platform
• Continuously reviewing current processes and identifies opportunities for improvements to promote efficient and effective oversight processes
• Creating and maintaining policies and procedure documents
• Understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursuing effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy of, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day businesscontrols to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:


• Strong business analysis skills and demonstrated success participating project lifecycle. This includes scope definition, business case development, requirements gathering, test script development, deployment, and implementation assistance
• Experience in running daily controls including knowledge of escalation, remediation and management reporting.
• Knowledge of reporting requirements/reporting logic for various regimes (MIFID 2, CIRO, CFTC, SEC, CTR, ESMA, FCA, MAS, HKMA, ASIC, CAT, SFTR, SMMD, Electronic Bluesheets) would be an asset.
• Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, organizational skills and strong data mining skills
• Demonstrated success working in a demanding and fast-paced environment,
• Advanced communication skills and the ability to clearly and concisely present to senior stakeholders
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to gain confidence of stakeholders.
• Strong Technical skills: Power BI, Tableau, Data Structure, Documentation and VBA
