Job summary

Atira Women’s Resource Society in Vancouver is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Flint Hotel Supportive Housing Program. You will schedule and support frontline and custodial staff and assist with rent collection and administrative duties, ensuring service delivery aligns with Atira’s mandate.

You will work with the program manager to develop long-range plans and foster partnerships with tenants, partner agencies, businesses and community groups to benefit residents and the organization.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years front-line support with at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Degree, Diploma or certificate in social work, social services, public health, building management, facilities management or related field.
  • Valid First Aid certificate.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificate.
  • Administrative and supervisory experience is required.
  • Covid-19 (including booster) and annual flu vaccinations are recommended.
  • Criminal Records Review required (Paid by Atira).

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and support front line and custodial staff.
  • Support the program manager with rent collection and other administrative duties.
  • Ensure program/service delivery consistent with Atira's mandate and policies.
  • Develop long-range program plans with the program manager.
  • Nurture relationships with partner agencies, businesses and community groups.

Hours of Work: Avg 36-hour workweek (Thursday to Monday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with every second Monday free from work)


Compensation: $57,000 - $63,000 depending on education & experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package and pension.


Program & Location: Flint Hotel Supportive Housing Program- Vancouver (Downtown Eastside)

About The Job

The Assistant Manager reports directly to the Program Manager, Supportive Housing Program and is responsible for scheduling and supporting the front line and custodial staff and well as for supporting the program manager with rent collection and other administrative duties as well as ensuring effective program/service delivery consistent with Atira’s mandate and which invites and includes the participation of tenants. You have the opportunity to work with the program manager to develop long-range program plans that meet Atira’s goals and objectives and to develop and nurture strong working relationships with partner agencies, businesses and other neighborhood and community groups for the purpose of creating positive relationships that benefit our tenants and Atira. You will ensure your work is conducted in a professional and efficient manner in compliance with Atira Mixed Gender Housing policies and consistent with the mission, vision, values and philosophy of our parent Society.


About You

You are aligned with Atira’s mission, vision, values, and philosophy and bring a strong commitment to anti-oppression and intersectional practice. You understand the impacts of colonialism, especially in Canada, including the legacy of the residential school system, and you approach your work with cultural humility and respect.


You are comfortable working in a harm reduction environment and supporting people who may be experiencing substance use and/or mental wellness challenges. You support those who choose abstinence while recognizing abstinence is just one option among many. You are inclusive and affirming of people of all genders, including transgender, Two-Spirit, intersex, transfeminine and non-binary individuals, and understand the realities of gendered violence, misogyny, systemic barriers and how these harms disproportionately impact women. You are sex worker positive – you understand sex work, including survival sex work, as part of a broader social, economic, and gendered context and bring an approach grounded in respect, autonomy, and dignity.


You treat others with fairness and respect, challenge practices that conflict with shared values, and contribute to a supportive, accountable team environment. You inspire others through your commitment to anti-violence and promoting equity, prioritize the needs of the communities we serve, and challenge the status quo to improve quality and sustainability. Qualifications


  • One to three years front-line support work experience in increasingly more senior roles with at least one of those years in a supervisory capacity and experience working with people who are facing multiple forms of oppression including but not limited to violence, abuse, homelessness, poverty, and racism.

  • A Degree, Diploma or certificate in social work, social services, public health, building management, facilities management or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, experience, and skill- based training.

  • Must have a valid first aid certificate.

  • Must have a current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate.

  • Administrative and supervisory experience is required.

  • Covid-19 (Including Booster) and annual flu vaccinations are recommended

  • All positions are subject to a Criminal Records Review (Paid by Atira)
