Position Overview:

The Assistant Manager, Category will serve as Walmart's category expert, providing insights and go-to-market recommendations. They will collaborate with Walmart's merchant team to analyze data, identify business insights, and develop strategies to grow total category sales. The role involves strategic leadership and deep knowledge of the category and consumer behavior to drive profitable results.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Act as the subject matter expert for the category, offering guidance and strategic recommendations.
  2. Utilize syndicated data to support Walmart in making informed decisions based on actionable insights.
  3. Generate regular and ad hoc reports to identify opportunities and recommend solutions for growth.
  4. Manage the annual relay process, including drawing and submitting MODS.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Category Development, Consumer & Shopper Insights) to deliver impactful insights and recommendations.
  6. Develop and deliver presentations to stakeholders, including category reviews and consumer/shopper POVs.
  7. Analyze multi-channel purchasing behaviors and monitor marketplace trends related to channel shifting.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
  2. 1-2 years of experience in category management within a leading CPG company; Walmart Advisor experience preferred.
  3. Knowledge of Category Management tools, philosophies, and proven success in the field.
  4. Ability to build strong relationships with Walmart and internal teams.
  5. Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  6. Advanced skills in Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and familiarity with space planning software (JDA/Blue Yonder).
  7. Experience with syndicated data metrics and retailer POS data (e.g., NPD, IRI, Nielsen, Retail Link).
  8. Ability to analyze data sources and present key insights effectively.
  9. Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
