We're currently seeking an Assistant Shop Manager for our Edmonton location. The successful candidate will promote a high-performing shop culture with a focus on profitability, continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, safety, and employee engagement. You'll also support the Shop Manager in providing leadership and direction to a team of employees to ensure shop operations run efficiently and effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for :

Operations Leadership

Supports daily operations of the shop and provides leadership to ensure stakeholder objectives are met in a safe, effective, ethical and positive manner;

Supports management of shop in alignment with The Craftsman Way (TCW);

Supports daily production, work flow and quality control of the shop;

Works with the Shop Manager, Operations team, People and Culture team, and Health, Safety and Environment Manager to ensure that operations are compliant with all provincial and national regulatory standards pertaining to health and safety, quality and employment standards;

Writes estimates and schedules repairs as required;

Reviews and interprets key performance indicators on an ongoing basis, and assists Shop Manager with adjustment of shop operations as needed;

Reviews and interprets monthly financials with Shop Manager, and assists with adjustment of shop operations as needed

Supports overall direction, and provides coaching and leadership to the shop team;

Contributes to a work environment which helps foster the ability and desire of employees to act in empowered ways and

Supports clear communication of company objectives, delegates work (where required), and supports development of

individuals and team; and

Understands apprentice program and provides support to apprentices to ensure a positive experience and successful

completion of the Red Seal technician program.

Health and Safety

Promotes a shop culture where Health and Safety is a priority;

Ensures shop facility and team members follow all Health and Safety requirements, policies and procedures

Customer Service

Supports the team in providing the highest levels of customer service, both internally and externally;

Resolves customer service concerns and escalates to the Shop Manager where appropriate;

Proactively takes steps to reduce customer effort

Marketing and Business Development

Stay abreast of current Craftsman Collision marketing initiatives and promotions;

Supports the Shop Manager and Marketing Manager on local initiatives and participates in community events, where

required;

Supports Shop Manager in conducting outside sales calls, networking in the community, and proactively developing new

business for the shop to support revenue growth

Requirements

To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will have :

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive industry or related experience, including experience in sales, customer service,

management or leadership;

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field preferred; a combination of education and relevant experience will also

be considered;

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment;
  • I-CAR Platinum certification an asset;
  • Proficiency in Mitchell Estimating, Audatex, ALLDATA an asset;
  • Knowledge and proficiency in ADAS systems, vehicle calibrations, and emerging vehicle technologies an asset;
  • Strong verbal, written and listening skills, combined with the ability to interact and gain the support of senior leadership and

other decision-makers;

  • Demonstrated aptitude to prioritize tasks based on comparative importance and urgency;
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Demonstrated time management, problem solving, critical thinking and sound judgement skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with customer service-oriented attitude;
  • Proficient in Outlook and video conferencing platforms with the ability and willingness to learn new applications;
  • Demonstrated desire and aptitude for learning and development;
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driver’s abstract over the last 3 years;
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with no restrictions;
  • Occasional travel within Canada and to the US may be required for company functions
