Job summary

Canmore Inn & Suites in Canmore is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to support the Maintenance Manager in keeping the property safe, efficient and in good condition. This role covers daily maintenance, safety compliance, and supervision of staff.

The position notes staff accommodation in a private bedroom, and requires the ability to respond to work orders, coordinate with contractors, and uphold health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry.
• Experience using hand and power tools safely.
• Able to read and communicate in English.
• Commitment to health and safety policies and PPE use.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day maintenance operations of the property.
• Fill in for the Maintenance Manager when absent.
• Ensure staff are trained and knowledgeable for their tasks.
• Support planning and execution of preventative maintenance programs.
• Respond promptly to work orders and emergencies.
• Help supervise and support maintenance team members.
• Coordinate with contractors and supervise work.
• Maintain maintenance logs, work orders and inventory records.
• Ensure compliance with safety codes and PPE use.

Overview

The Assistant Maintenance Manager supports the Maintenance Manager in ensuring the property remains safe, efficient, and in good condition. This role assists and helps oversee daily maintenance activities, preventative maintenance, repairs, and staff supervision while maintaining high standards for guest satisfaction and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with managing day-to-day maintenance operations of the property, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and staff accommodations.
• Fill in for the Maintenance Manager when manager is absent.
• Ensure that staff are trained and knowledgeable for their assigned tasks.
• Support planning and execution of preventative maintenance programs.
• Respond promptly to work orders and emergencies.
• Help supervise and support maintenance team members.
• Ensure all work is in compliance with safety and code standards, including proper PPE use.
• Monitor and maintain inventory supplies.
• Coordinate with contractors, ensuring work schedule and compliance, as well as quality of work.
• General repairs such as painting, repairing or patching walls and ceilings.
• Basic plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry, dry walling as within code.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory records.
• Other tasks as requested by management.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electric systems, HVAC, and carpentry an asset.
• Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and diagnostics.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Able to read and communicate well in English.
• Strong commitment to health and safety polices and procedures and PPE use.
