Job summary

The Americana Conference Resort & Spa is seeking an Assistant Housekeeping Manager to join our Housekeeping team. Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager, this role leads daily operations of Housekeeping, Laundry, and Commons with hands-on leadership and a commitment to pristine guest accommodations.

We value candidates with 3+ years of leadership in hospitality, solid communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office and Maestro PMS.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience in housekeeping.
  • Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management or related field is asset.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Experience with Maestro PMS or another property management system is asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Housekeeping Manager with the daily operations of Housekeeping, Laundry, and Commons.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate team members while promoting a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Assign daily duties and provide clear direction regarding work methods, procedures, and departmental expectations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces meet established cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, labour management, coaching, and performance management.
  • Monitor departmental productivity, efficiency, service standards, and guest satisfaction.
  • Manage the resort's Lost & Found process, including recording, secure storage, tracking, retention, and follow-up.
  • Issue and monitor supplies, equipment, and linens and assist with inventory counts and stock control.
  • Work closely with Maintenance to coordinate deep-cleaning projects, floor care, preventative maintenance, and upkeep of resort areas.
  • Communicate with department leaders regarding room readiness, cleanliness, maintenance concerns, and operational priorities.
  • Address guest and team member concerns promptly and professionally, working toward effective resolutions.
  • Support compliance with company policies, workplace legislation, health and safety requirements, and departmental procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve departmental efficiency, service quality, and overall operations.
  • Participate in departmental, leadership, and management meetings.
  • Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and exceptional guest service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.

Our Housekeeping team is committed to providing guests with pristine accommodations through attention to detail, teamwork, and exceptional service. The successful candidate will be a hands‑on leader who can motivate team members, maintain high standards, and effectively manage the day‑to‑day demands of a busy resort environment.

Primary Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience in Housekeeping, preferably within a hotel, resort, or hospitality environment.

  • Post‑secondary education in Hospitality Management, Hotel & Resort Operations, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing operational needs in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

  • Experience with Maestro PMS or another property management system is considered an asset.

  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills with a positive and solutions‑focused approach.

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.

  • Functional English literacy and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout a scheduled shift.

  • Frequently bend, twist, stoop, stretch, and reach above and below the knees.

  • Lift, carry, push, pull, and place items weighing up to 25 lbs. without assistance.

  • Respond promptly to operational demands in a fast‑paced hospitality environment.

  • Follow all required health and safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.
