Job summary

Mercatto in downtown Toronto is seeking an Assistant General Manager to join our leadership team. You will lead daily service with a visible on-floor presence, train and support front-of-house staff, and work closely with the kitchen to ensure seamless service.

You will manage scheduling and labour, coordinate reservations and events, and maintain strong knowledge of cocktails, bar, and menu offerings. We value warmth, energy, and a hands-on approach in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Assistant General Manager or Senior Restaurant Manager is required.
• Demonstrated passion for hospitality and guest experiences.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills are essential.
• Highly organized with scheduling, labour management, and cost controls.
• Familiarity with restaurant tech like OpenTable, Navi and TripleSeat.

WHO YOU ARE

• Proven experience as an Assistant General Manager or Senior Restaurant Manager
• A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
• Strong leadership and people-management skills
• Highly organized, with confidence in scheduling, labour management, and cost controls
• Comfortable using OpenTable, Navi, and TripleSeat (or similar systems)
• Thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
