Altrad is seeking an Assistant Engineer (Test Engineering) for our Renfrew team. You will assist in TEQ projects, support QHSE, technical, financial, and project management activities to meet customer requirements.

You will help specify test rig setups, instrumentation, and data acquisition, and contribute to safe, on-time, on-budget project delivery while liaising with Asset Management functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) 2.1 in appropriate discipline.
  • MEng in appropriate discipline preferred.
  • Some experience in a technical position desirable.
  • Understanding of Mechanical Engineering Principles.
  • Awareness of Codes, Legislation, Company standards and QHSE procedures.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Creative and innovative skills.
  • Basic technical report writing skills. Effective communication.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with producing TEQ technical tenders meeting customer requirements.
  • Assist Project Lead on TEQ contracts within budget and on time.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Support Testing and Equipment Qualification activities.
  • Assist with instrumentation and data acquisition setup per client requirements.
  • Assist with concept design and calculations for test rigs.
  • Support project management of TEQ projects to ensure timely completion.

About The Role

Altrad are currently looking for an Assistant Engineer (Test Engineering) to join the team based in Renfrew.

The successful candidate will undertake an assisting role in the support of delivering projects in the field of Testing and Equipment Qualification, assist with QHSE, technical, financial and project management activities to meet customer requirements.

Key Deliverables:
  • To assist with the production of Test and Equipment Qualification technical tenders which meet our customers requirements, having clear capture strategies and which can be delivered safely on time and to budget.
  • To assist the Project Lead on Test and Equipment Qualification contracts ensuring that all technical and project requirements are suitably managed, addressed and delivered in a safe manner and within budget.
  • To participate in project kick off meetings, Safe Setting to work Toolbox talks and oversight of project activates carried out by other Asset Management functions.
  • To provide support in the field of Testing and Equipment Qualification in support of the Department’s activities.
  • To interpret client project requirements and assist with specifying test rig set-up, instrumentation and data acquisition needs to fulfil contractual agreements.
  • To assist with the concept design and subsequent calculations on bespoke test rigs fabricated within the department to carry out component testing contracts.
  • To assist with the project management of allocated TEQ projects to safe on time and on budget completion.
  • Assist with the negotiation of and capturing of any contractual variations to the original defined work scope.
  • To ensure that all test contracts are professionally presented and always fit for visitor viewing.
  • To stop any work being carried out within bay/lab environments which is deemed not in-line with the standards expected.
  • Assisting with Test and Equipment Qualification projects.
  • Preparation of Control of Work and project documentation including Safe Systems of Work.
  • Taking part in toolbox talks and project kick offs.
  • Liaison with other Asset Management functions as required to ensure timely completion of projects by SQEP personnel.
  • Basic structural / concept design and calculation of bespoke basic test rigs required to carry out Department contract
  • Specification of instrumentation and data acquisition test set-up to meet client test programme requirements.
