Description
Assistant Director, Inclusive Supports – Lead with Purpose

At Rygiel Supports for Community Living, we don’t just provide housing - we build community. For more than 60 years, we've been supporting people with developmental disabilities in living full, inclusive, and empowered lives.

The Assistant Director, Inclusive Supports provides operational leadership and oversight across Rygiel's residential and community-based support programs. Working collaboratively with program managers, frontline teams, People & Culture, interdisciplinary professionals, and organizational leadership, this position supports safe, consistent, and person-directed services that promote dignity, choice, inclusion, and belonging.

Reporting to the Director, Inclusive Supports, the Assistant Director plays an important role in supporting daily operations, strengthening management practices, addressing operational challenges, and ensuring programs are responsive to the evolving needs of the people we support.

This role combines multi-site operational leadership with staff mentorship, resource management, quality oversight, and a commitment to continuous improvement across inclusive support environments.

Why Join Rygiel?
  • A mission-driven organization where your work has real impact on real people’s lives.
  • A culture rooted in respect, inclusion, and human dignity.
  • Competitive salary of $90,000 - $100,000, commensurate with experience.
  • A collaborative leadership environment where your voice and vision matter.
  • The opportunity to mentor and develop managers while strengthening services across the organization.
  • The opportunity to champion inclusion and person-directed supports at a respected non-profit.
  • A flexible work environment that balances operational needs with opportunities for remote work.

This is more than a job. It’s a chance to lead and support the teams that helps others live with dignity, choice, and belonging, and be part of a workplace that lives those values, too.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead, coach, and performance-manage the Operational Leads and the Day Program Supervisor, building a management team that owns its clusters end to end.
  • Own service continuity across all homes: coverage, vacancy management, and staffing deployment, with accountability for scheduling delivered at the cluster level.
  • Drive measurable reductions in overtime and agency staffing; build and run the operational reporting rhythm (coverage, overtime, vacancies, incidents) and report on it to the Director.
  • Support the operational budget as the responsible manager for resource deployment, with the Director holding overall accountability.
  • Facilitate adoption of the new operating model with the Director and our practice and development function, translating design into working routine.
  • Serve as the operational voice in recruitment: participate in second-round interviews for supervisory and frontline roles, hiring for the organization as well as for the team.
  • Ensure health and safety supervisory duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act are clearly assigned and genuinely exercised at the cluster level.
  • Operate effectively within a unionized environment, partnering with People and Culture on changes that touch bargaining-unit work.
  • Act as the first escalation point for operational issues across the portfolio and participate in the backup on-call rotation.
What You Bring:

Minimum 5 years of progressive operational leadership experience in a multi-site, shift-based, or 24/7 service environment, including experience managing supervisors or managers.

Demonstrated experience leading large, complex teams, with responsibility for operational performance, service continuity, resource management, and financial accountability.

Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret operational data, identify trends, and use information to support decision-making and continuous improvement.

Experience with, or demonstrated ability to learn, Ontario's developmental services sector, including applicable legislation and Quality Assurance Measures (QAM).

Experience working in a unionized environment, including an understanding of collective agreement obligations, considered an asset.

Post-secondary education in business, health administration, social services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant leadership experience.

Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop managers, fostering accountability, collaboration, and effective team leadership.
