Job summary

Independent Grocers Alliance in Montreal is seeking an Assistant Department Manager to lead daily department operations and support the department manager. You will guide staff, promote excellent customer service, and participate in training to grow in the role.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years in retail or customer service, a high school diploma, and a proactive attitude toward learning and development within a dynamic grocery environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in retail or customer service.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willing to participate in training courses.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day management activities within the department with the department manager.
• Provide feedback to team members for development and to achieve objectives.
• Collaborate with production and customer service clerks and ensure exceptional customer service.
• Assist in inventories, price lists, marketing and salary productivity to ensure readiness.

What might a typical day look like?
As an assistant department manager, you will have to :

• perform day-to-day management activities within your department in collaboration with the department manager;
• provide team members with the feedback necessary for their professional development and the achievement of established objectives;
• collaborate with the production and customer service clerks; - Ensure the implementation of exceptional customer service
• in collaboration with the manager, ensure the management of inventories, price lists, marketing and salary productivity according to established standards in order to ensure business readiness;
