Our client in the construction industry, based in Waterloo, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their growing team! This position will be responsible for managing 1 direct report, budgeting and forecasting, preparing monthly financial statements, supporting daily operations, and liaising with external accountants during year-end procedures. It’s an excellent opportunity for individuals currently in public accounting who are looking to transition into an industry role.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the preparation of annual working papers
  • Review the work of the direct report
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Handle income tax filings and T-slips for all projects
  • Manage and review project financials
  • Develop, implement, and maintain process improvements
  • Collaborate with management on strategic planning and contribute to company and team growth
  • Support ad-hoc projects as needed
Requirements:
  • Candidates with 5+ years of experience in public accounting seeking to move into industry
  • CPA designation is highly preferred
  • High attention to detail
