About the Company

Our client is a family-owned insurance company with a close-knit culture that values its employees. They regularly host staff events and offer an excellent benefits package. They are seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee month-end duties, including financial reporting and analysis, audit support, internal controls, and accounts payable/receivable. The Assistant Controller will also manage 2-3 direct reports.

About the Opportunity

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Prepare monthly variance and trend analyses.
• Support budget preparation and forecasting processes.

General Ledger and Account Reconciliation:

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Review posted journal entries for reasonability.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing activities.

Compliance and Internal Controls:

• Ensure financial practices comply with internal policies and external regulations.
• Assist with maintenance and documentation of internal controls and procedures.

Accounts Payable/Receivable Support:

• Oversee AP/AR processes, providing guidance where necessary on invoice processing, payments, and collections.
• Oversee reconciliation of vendor and customer accounts.

Audit Support:

• Prepare schedules and audit working papers as needed.
• Respond to auditor inquiries and assist with implementation of audit recommendations.

System and Process Improvement:

• Assist with implementation and upgrades of accounting software and systems.
• Identify and recommend improvements to accounting procedures and workflows.
• Complete special projects or analysis as assigned.

About You

• 3+ years of experience in senior accountant or senior financial analyst roles, OR 1 year of experience as an Assistant Controller.
• Demonstrated people management skills.

Salary Range

$90,000 - $100,000 per year.
