Job description

About the Role

As our Assistant Controller, you’ll be responsible for the integrity of financial statements and reporting, compliance with tax and audit standards, treasury, and cash flow management.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, including owning the month-end workbook and establishing monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.
  2. Review and approve payroll, provide variance analysis, and own treasury functions.
  3. Serve as the primary contact for corporate tax, sales tax, and audit engagements, ensuring compliance with all relevant authorities.
  4. Collaborate closely with the Director of Finance on global expansion and operational initiatives.
  5. Redesign and oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and treasury processes for automated, streamlined workflows.
  6. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure reporting accuracy.
  7. Develop a high-performance team culture.

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years in management.
  • Familiarity with tools like QBO, Brex, Plooto, Intacct, Netsuite is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • CPA or similar certification is a plus (Canada).
  • Experience in multi-entity, multi-currency environments.
  • Experience with audit and tax engagements.
