To support our continued growth, we are looking for a rigorous, analytical, and motivated Assistant Controller who is ready to play a key role in managing and controlling our financial operations. Reporting to the Head of finances, the Assistant Controller will be primarily responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the company’s financial and accounting data. This position will also work closely with the Head of finances to support the company’s overall financial and accounting activities.
Day-to-Day Accounting
- Ensure the accurate, complete, and proper recording and classification of financial and accounting transactions across all company entities
- Follow up on and validate accounting transactions in collaboration with the Accounts Payable Technician and various departments
- Perform and reconcile bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare and manage quotes, invoicing, and collections for B2B sales in collaboration with the Customer Service team
- Review transactions and validate SKU cost calculations
- Perform analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
- Reconcile sales and payment transactions from various sales platforms and payment gateways (Shopify, Amazon, PayPal, Affi... etc.)
- Prepare and validate GST/QST reports
- Reconcile intercompany balances and transactions between the company’s various entities
- Actively participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes
Budgeting & Audit
- Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Support the CFO in preparing the annual audit files.
Cross-Department Collaboration and General Support
What we’re looking for
- 5 + years of experience in a similar accounting or bookkeeping position, ideally in e-commerce or a multi-company environment.
- You have a college diploma or bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or other relevant education.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel & Google Sheets.
- Experience with ERP software, specifically Netsuite (an asset).
- Knowledge with software as QuickBooks Online, Dext and other cloud base financials software.
- High volume capacity and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills, with great attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and priority management skills.
- Understanding and ease with technological tools.
- Good organization and ability to effectively manage recurring tasks.
- Comfortable in a dynamic and fast-growing work environment.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is required to communicate effectively with our internal and external partners.
