SSP Canada operates several restaurants throughout the Ottawa International Airport, including Darcy McGees, Cork & Well, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Bridgehead Coffee, Big Rig Brewing, and Canal Market.

The Assistant Restaurant Manager partners with the Restaurant General Manager to lead the restaurant team. Responsibilities include delegating tasks, delivering exceptional customer service, leading by example, and developing the team. This position specifically oversees our Starbucks units.

Essential Functions

1. Recruits, trains, develops, and communicates with the team of Food Travel Experts. Implements and maintains guest service standards and brand specifications.
2. Maintains merchandising standards, display presentations, signing standards, and monitors inventory levels.
3. Develops, plans, and assigns daily goals, tasks, and team member responsibilities.
4. Manages, supervises, and evaluates team member performance, providing feedback and disciplinary actions as needed.
5. Assists in monitoring sales performance through sales reports and comparison shopping.
6. Ensures adherence to company policies, procedures, and health/sanitation standards.
7. Handles office tasks including funds management, receiving, inventory, purchasing, scheduling, and payroll.

Skills & Other Requirements

1. Minimum of two (2) years of management experience in the food & beverage industry, preferably in a coffee shop environment.
2. Previous experience managing a Starbucks location is strongly preferred.
3. Experience in casual dining settings is also preferred.
4. Proven ability to manage conflicts, work under pressure, and exercise sound judgment.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Strong organizational skills to prioritize activities effectively.
7. Ability to obtain Transport Canada Security Clearance.
