Assistant Category Manager (12 Month Contract)

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop promotional programs and activities, including product selection and sales projections, to promote categories, increase market share, and grow revenue.
  • Create and monitor planograms to optimize product placement and maximize sales, profit, and inventory turns at a regional level.
  • Manage the category plan to meet seasonal and corporate objectives, including product assortment decisions for timely listing and delisting.
  • Analyze weekly, period, and YTD sales and margin reports to identify opportunities and maximize seasonal category performance.
  • Manage pricing details, ensuring accurate reflection of cost, retail, and promotional prices in the system.
  • Negotiate with vendors on product costs, co-op allowances, payment terms, and deals to maximize business opportunities.
  • Liaise with internal departments, perform store visits, and attend trade shows to enhance seasonal sales and profitability.
Skills, Knowledge & Education
  • Demonstrated initiative and judgment to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in interactions with colleagues and vendors.
  • Understanding of interrelated work processes and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report and document preparation.
  • Computer proficiency for reports, presentations, and documents.
  • Knowledge of marketing, sales, and analytical tools.

Education: Post-secondary education in Merchandising, Marketing, Business, Retail, or equivalent.

Experience: 5-10 years in marketing, merchandising, or retail.
