Job summary

Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters is seeking an Assistant Café Leader to join our Calgary-based leadership team. You will work closely with the Café Leader, Director, and Cafe Operations to uphold our standards of quality and guest experience.

You will lead from the front, coaching staff, maintaining coffee quality, and balancing operations in a fast-paced, hospitality-focused environment. This is a full-time role with competitive pay and benefits based on experience.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of supervision experience in coffee or restaurants.
• Full-time availability, including weekends and holidays.
• Willingness to commute to all Calgary P&S locations.
• Flexible availability for early mornings and evenings.
• Strong passion for specialty coffee and customer experience.

At Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters, we believe coffee can be exceptional—and so can the experience around it. As a Calgary-based, owner-operated company with 9 cafés, a roasterie, and our HQ in East Village, we’re driven by quality, curiosity, and genuine hospitality.

We are looking for a special individual to join our management team as an Assistant Café Leader (our term for Assistant Manager).

Kindly note that the work location is flexible. While we are excited to welcome a new Assistant Cafe Leader to our team, the specific location will be disclosed to serious candidates during the hiring process. The final location will be determined based on business needs and availability, as well as the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and accessibility.

This is a full-time leadership role with a competitive salary and benefits package, based on experience. You’ll work closely with the Café Leader of the location, our Director and Cafe Operations team, alongside Phil and Sebastian, who are actively involved in developing our leaders.

PREREQUISITES:

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Are deeply passionate about specialty coffee and have a strong understanding of coffee quality, preparation, and service
• Have hands-on experience working with specialty coffee and a desire to continually deepen your coffee knowledge
• Take pride in representing a flagship café and setting the standard for quality and hospitality
• Always commit to deliver exceptional hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
• Have a passion for specialty coffee and a desire to continually deepen your coffee knowledge
• Bring at least 1 year of supervision experience in coffee or restaurants
• Are a collaborative team player who takes initiative and ownership
• Enjoy coaching, developing and supporting your teammates
• Are energized by a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment
• Are available full-time, including weekends and holidays
• Must be able to reliably commute to all P&S café locations within Calgary city limits. Some flexibility may be considered for candidates who have limited access to specific locations.
• Flexible availability for early mornings and evening shifts, aligned with most café hours (6:00 AM–9:30 PM).
