Job summary

Well.ca Inc. in Toronto is seeking an Assistant Buyer to join our Merchandising team. You will support growth and development of a specific category, driving sales, margin, assortment, inventory and promotions in a fast-paced ecommerce environment.

You will work closely with vendors and cross-functional teams, leveraging analytics to inform category decisions and own assigned programs with guidance from the Director of Merchandising.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in merchandising, buying and category management.
• Experience in ecommerce is an asset.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data and drive action.
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support the growth and development of assigned categories to drive sales and margin.
• Sourcing new vendors and onboarding brands to Well.ca.
• Build weekly promotions with key vendors to meet targets and attract traffic.
• Maximize vendor relationships to secure coop and rebates.
• Develop seasonal programs and manage inventory levels.
• Set pricing strategies and promotional pricing.
• Create insights on category/SKU performance and adapt to market trends.
• Collaborate with Marketing to develop a robust promotional calendar.
• Related duties to ensure category and business success.

Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $75,000.00 Annually

About the Role

Are you a self-starter who is curious, analytical, and excited by the fast-paced world of ecommerce and merchandising?

Well.ca is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Assistant Buyer to join our Merchandising team. In this role, you will work to support the growth and development of a specific category, helping to drive sales, margin, assortment, inventory, and promotional performance.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is commercially minded, highly analytical, and excited to take ownership of their work. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with vendors and cross-functional teams while developing your merchandising and category management skills in a dynamic ecommerce environment.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm

Pay Range:$65,000 - $75,000

Location: Toronto - Hybrid* in-office once per month, or as requested by Management

Position Status: 12-Month Contract

What You'll Do

Working closely with the Director of Merchandising, you will support the growth and development of your assigned categories, including:

• Supporting revenue, margin, and SKU count targets for your categories
• Sourcing new vendors and distributors and setting them up to do business at Well.ca with the purpose of onboarding a steady line up of new and innovative brands
• Building weekly promotions, in conjunction with key vendors, to meet promotional targets and generate traffic and excitement to Well.ca
• Maximizing relationships with vendors, including securing coop and rebate dollars
• Building seasonal programs where required
• Managing inventory levels and proactively de-listing unproductive SKUs and vendors maximizing sales and turns
• Setting strategic pricing and determining promotional pricing
• Creating insight on category/SKU performance and regularly adapting the category to shifts in market trends
• Working with the Marketing team to develop a robust promotional calendar
• Related duties connected with making the category and business successful

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in merchandising, buying and category management
• Previous experience within ecommerce is an asset
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and turn insights into action
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Commercially minded, with an understanding of how assortment, pricing, promotions, inventory, and margin work together to drive business results
• A can-do self-starter who is tenacious and creative in finding ways to get things done
• A person who is naturally curious, analytical, and innovative, and questions the status quo
