About the Faculty of Business, Communication Studies & Aviation

The Faculty comprises the Bissett School of Business, the School of Communication Studies, and the Aviation Program. The Aviation Program offers a two-year Aviation Diploma and a four-year Bachelor of Aviation Management.

About Aviation at MRU

MRU’s aviation diploma is AABI accredited, integrating academic preparation with flight simulator training. The program is supported by industry through the MRU’s Aviation Partnership Council. The Bachelor of Aviation Management launched in Fall 2024 and offers two concentration options.

About the Role

The Department of Aviation invites applications for the position of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, starting July 1, 2025, or as available, subject to budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will join the Aviation team, teaching six courses annually, maintaining a research program, and providing service to the MRU community. Responsibilities include teaching and developing courses for the aviation diploma program and/or the BAM degree program.

Qualifications

The candidate must have a PhD in a discipline related to Aviation and Aerospace, and have:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Evidence of an emerging or mature program of scholarship in aviation
  • Teaching experience and excellence
  • Involvement in the aviation community
  • Experience in program and course development
  • Knowledge of sustainability as it relates to aviation
  • Understanding of Indigenization and equity

Preferred qualifications include an Airline Transport Pilot License, or Commercial Pilot License, Group 1 Instrument Rating, and a Flight Instructor Rating.
