Backed by scientific expertise and a global outlook, we are currently seeking 1–2 Business Development professionals to join our commercial team and help drive the next stage of growth.
About the Role
As a Business Development Associate/Manager, you will play a pivotal role in expanding PharmaPlanter’s reach and impact in the CRO and biotech innovation space. You'll be responsible for generating new business opportunities, building strategic relationships, and positioning our services and platforms as essential tools in the preclinical R&D ecosystem.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and execute BD strategies to identify and engage new leads across biotech, pharma, and academia
- Support or lead sales efforts from initial outreach through to proposal, negotiation, and contract signing
- Partner closely with scientific and operational teams to deliver customized solutions aligned with client needs
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective clients, acting as a trusted advisor
- Track, manage, and report on your opportunity pipeline using our CRM and internal systems
- Represent PharmaPlanter at industry conferences, webinars, and meetings, helping position us as an innovation-forward CRO partner
- Provide insights to internal teams regarding market trends, client feedback, and partnership opportunities
- Collaborate with leadership to support co-funded research opportunities and strategic partnerships
Core Requirements
- A strong academic background and/or relevant industry experience in life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical sectors, demonstrating comfort with scientific concepts and language.
- Demonstrated success in business development or sales, with a track record of client acquisition, revenue growth, or consistently meeting/exceeding performance targets.
- Skilled in client-centered communication and negotiation, with the ability to identify needs, craft tailored solutions, and navigate complex deal structures from outreach to close.
- Proven ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear, engaging, and strategic way
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a client-focused mindset and a collaborative approach
- High attention to detail, professionalism, and adaptability in fast-moving environments
- Comfortable with CRM tools and tracking sales pipelines and reporting metrics
- Self-starter who thrives in a hybrid or remote work environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with or selling to biotech startups, pharma companies, or CROs
- Familiarity with preclinical research workflows or AI-driven scientific platforms
- Mandarin proficiency is a strong asset, particularly for Asia-Pacific client development
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cultures, time zones, and functions — both internally and with global clients.
- Highly self-motivated and adaptable, capable of navigating changing priorities and flexible work schedules, including occasional domestic and international travel.
- Advanced degree (e.g., PhD) or industry certifications (e.g., BD-specific training) are a plus, but not mandatory.
