Job summary

Airswift is assisting a major Oil and Gas operator in recruiting an Asset Integrity Technologist for a 1-year contract based in St. Albert, AB or Swan Hills.

The role covers full asset life-cycle from design to decommissioning and emphasizes risk-based integrity programs and regulatory liaison. You will develop and oversee corrosion monitoring, inspection schedules, and data systems; collaborate with Operations, Engineering and Management; and support continuous improvement while ensuring safety

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of oil and gas experience.
  • Technical degree or diploma; professional designation is an asset.
  • Pipeline codes and standards knowledge (CSA Z662 and regulations).
  • Experience with pipeline maintenance coordination and corrosion programs.
  • API certifications are an asset.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and integrity management software.

Responsibilities

  • Support asset integrity programs across design, commissioning and decommissioning.
  • Oversee corrosion monitoring and chemical inhibition programs.
  • Coordinate inspection schedules and annual budgeting inputs.
  • Liaise with regulators and manage reporting with vendors.
  • Analyze inspection results and risk assessments to identify mitigations.

Job description

Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for an Asset Integrity Technologist to join their team on a 1-year contract.

Based in St. Albert or Swan Hills, AB the Asset Integrity Technologist/Engineer will have the opportunity to deal with a wide variety of assets for the full life-cycle from design and commissioning through to close-down, and decommissioning means utilizing and developing your expertise across a broad range of processes, workflows and technologies. There is also the opportunity for real career development and to taking ownership and responsibility for your own production area.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Strong working knowledge of upstream pipeline integrity management
  • Apply risk assessment methodologies to ensure company’s assets remain at a tolerable level with respect to safety, environmental impact, compliance, reliability, and economic loss
  • Work with other Asset Integrity team members, Operations, Production, Engineering, and Management to deliver effective Asset Integrity Management programs that address all Asset Integrity threats. Such programs include but are not limited to:
    • Corrosion control programs
    • Inspection programs
    • Monitoring programs
    • Metallurgical upgrades
    • Design/process changes
    • Detection and measurement systems
  • Proactively analyze inspection results, failure investigation findings, risk assessment results, and process conditions to ensure that key degradation mechanisms are understood and that appropriate mitigation and monitoring techniques are in place
  • Oversee the corrosion monitoring program and chemical inhibition program
  • Coordinate cathodic protection of pipelines and associated facilities
  • Develop and maintain inspection schedules to aid in annual budgeting
  • Reconcile and update equipment inventory databases
  • Co-ordinate maintenance activities, including repair procedures, to minimize downtime
  • Work with vendors to ensure reporting is accurate and timely
  • Liaise with regulators

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of related oil and gas industry experience
  • A relevant technical degree or diploma with professional or certified designation would be considered an asset
  • Pipeline experience and NACE/AMPP Corrosion courses would be considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of the pipeline codes & standards: CSA Z662, provincial & federal jurisdictional directives or regulations
  • Experience with pipeline maintenance work coordination
  • API Certifications would be considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and integrity management software systems such as Accumap, Maxi-Trak, Abacus, or Maximo
  • Self-starter and strong analytical skills are required
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and excellent safety attitude
