Job summary

Amrize Construction is seeking skilled individuals to join our Road Construction Team in the Greater Vancouver Area. As a Road Construction Team Member, you’ll help build vital transportation arteries, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency, and join a team paving the way for progress.

The Roller Operator is responsible for asphalt compaction behind the paving crew to achieve density and a smooth finish. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; 3–5 years’ experience.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Work Experience: 3-5 years’ experience required.

Responsibilities

• Operate roller machine to compress asphalt to maintain a smooth surface.
• Establish rolling patterns to achieve proper compaction and density.
• Assist with other tasks such as plate tamping or hand tamping as needed.
• Maintain daily equipment fluids and water systems.
• Follow health, safety and environmental policies and PPE protocols.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Roller Operator will be responsible for the compaction of asphalt by operating the roller machine behind the paving machine to obtain the proper density and finish texture at work sites.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

• Must be familiar with Municipal, Commercial, Industrial, Residential rolling practices.
• Operates roller machine to compress asphalt to maintain a smooth surface.
• Able to establish rolling patterns in order to achieve compaction.
• Must have the initiative, ability and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions – plate tamping, hand tamping etc.
• Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
• Daily maintenance of equipment including fluids and water systems.
• Provides day to day roller services and looks for ways to improve maintenance process or services on an ongoing basis.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Required Work Experience: 3-5 years’ experience required.

Additional Requirements

• Manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, good physical fitness, a good sense of balance, and an ability to work as a member of a team.
• Ability to work nights and weekends, as necessary.
• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
