Francois Lake Elementary in School District No. 91 Nechako Lakes seeks an ASL Interpreter to support communication between deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing learners and staff. Qualifications
Completion of a recognized Sign Language Interpretation Diploma Program plus one year related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Obtain and maintain membership to the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI)
Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of experience working with people who are deaf or hard of hearing
Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a 1 Year Education Assistant Certificate
WHMIS 2015 Certificate and familiarity with WorkSafeBC safety procedures
Responsibilities
Assists and supports the teacher and other professionals in the delivery of regular or alternate programs for communication between deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing learners/staff.
Works collaboratively with a District Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Classroom Teacher to perform duties and responsibilities.
