Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Graduation from a BC Interpreter Training Program.
• Membership with AVLIC or ability to join.
• Membership with WAVLI or ability to join.
• Minimum 3 years’ interpreting experience.

Responsibilities

• Interprets/transliterates ASL/English for deaf and hard of hearing students in class and at assemblies.
• Interprets for parents, staff, and community at meetings as needed.
• Prepares for classroom interpreting.
• Advises on use of interpreter in classrooms.
• Maintains student progress records and confidentiality.
