About the Artistic Planning & Operations Manager Position

Music on Main seeks an artistic planning and administrative leader to enhance its artistic and organizational excellence. As a vibrant and mature organization, Music on Main offers opportunities for experience, growth, and autonomy. We employ an entrepreneurial spirit with a build-measure-learn approach to testing, reporting, and refining production, financial, and administrative tools, utilizing cutting-edge methodologies for productive project management.

Reporting to Artistic Director David Pay and working closely with the board, the Artistic Planning & Operations Manager will oversee Music on Main’s operations. The role focuses on three main areas:

1. Planning & Production: Creating excellent productions and artist communications, managing contracts, overseeing productions, booking venues, creating schedules, assisting with work permits and compliance documents, liaising with the Production Manager, and managing the artist database.
2. Financial: Managing a +/-$750K operating budget, preparing financial reports, leading Finance Committee meetings, assisting with grants and reports, overseeing budgets and projections, ensuring CRA compliance, overseeing audits, and supporting fundraising efforts.
3. Administration & Operations: Managing daily programs and operations, arranging meetings, scheduling staff, aligning with strategic plans, participating in cooperative meetings, managing employment and service contracts, supervising staff and contractors, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
